50th Anniversary 1993 - Dilcher Collection
The following photographs taken in 1993 at the 50th anniversary of the invasion, are curteousy of Scott Dilcher and should not be used without his permission.
This is a photo of the two 8 inch guns on Green Beach. The gun on the left is in the water. The gun on the right is still intact. The bunkers must have been hit either by a ship barrage or blown up by satchel charges by the Marines. It would be interesting to know who did the demolition, the Navy or the Marines.
